We put these questions to our students in our Paso a Paso (Step by Step) program
Drawing on her extensive social work
experience and expertise Kendra Powell who worked with us from February through to June was responsible for developing, planning,
implementing and evaluating a much needed welfare program for at risk
elementary and secondary students. Through carefully crafted, weekly, one on
one sessions, this invaluable program assisted participants in identifying their
strengths, future short and long term goals and effective planning and
evaluation strategies.
The program was such a success that it has been continually
utilized since Kendra’s departure and has become the foundation for a suite of
creative workshops and projects that focus on students’ abilities and future aspirations.
The success of this program can be directly attributed to Kendra’s unwavering
commitment to the welfare of our students at Seeds of Hope. She worked
tirelessly with great professionalism to create a program that was thoroughly
prepared and documented in the hope that it would become a useful resource for
future volunteers and staff.
I pleased to report that the 'Paso a Paso' program has continued much to efforts of our recent volunteer and and counsellor Line Lacasse from Canada.
